66 New Veterinarians Licensed to Practice in Sri Lanka

Sixty-six newly qualified veterinarians received their licenses to practice following the successful completion of a six‑month internship training program. The licensing ceremony was held on 7 August 2025 at the Institute of Continuing Education, Department of Animal Production and Health, Gannoruwa.

The event was graced by distinguished guests including Dr. L.G.S. Lokugalappatti, President of the Sri Lanka Veterinary Council (SLVC); Dr. L.N. de Silva, Registrar of SLVC; Dr. A.W. Kalupahana, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science; Dr. H. Kothalawala, Director General of the Department of Animal Production and Health; along with council members.

As part of the program, Dr. Niranjala de Silva delivered an insightful lecture on Ethics in Veterinary Practice, while Dr. Nimal Jayaweera addressed Common Shortcomings in the Provision of Veterinary Clinical Services, inspiring the new license holders to uphold high standards of professionalism.

The list of newly registered veterinarians will be published in the Government Gazette, with registration numbers assigned from2574 to 2640.
