The Veterinary Council of Sri Lanka has successfully concluded its election to appoint six members to serve on the Council for a four‑year term spanning 2026 to 2030.

Among sixteen eligible candidates, the following six distinguished professionals were elected by the registered veterinary surgeons of Sri Lanka:

• Prof. P. G. A. Pushpakumara

• Dr. P. E. Gunawardana

• Dr. K. G. J. S. Disnaka

• Dr. K. A. C. H. Kothalawala

• Dr. N. T. Hewagamage

• Dr. K. H. Wellappili

The election was conducted by the Council in accordance with its statutory mandate under the Veterinary Surgeons and Practitioners Act. The newly elected members will contribute their expertise and leadership to uphold professional standards, strengthen veterinary practice, and safeguard animal welfare and public health in Sri Lanka.
